THOUGHTS ON AMALFI
Amalfi, Italy: We stayed at the Santa Caterina, hands down one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever been at. Most of the time I'm on the go or so eager to be out and about exploring or whatever, I completely overlook the amenities of wherever I am staying. However, this was impossible when staying somewhere like the Santa Caterina and I found myself spending most of my time in Amalfi on the property itself.
The town of Amalfi is quaint and easy to navigate, but leave the wedges at home as the streets are uneven cobblestones. I hadn't rolled my ankle that bad since sophomore year of college and forgot what a bitch it was. As best practice for most places you visit, enlist a local to give you their opinion of the best restaurants, gelato, shopping etc. in town. Italy is funny like that, the hole in the wall shop that's dimly lit is home of best leather selection, not the beautiful corner shop overflowing with merchandise. Always remember LKB: Locals know best!!!!
My one true shopping recommendation would be to pay a visit to Antica Sartoria home of rainbow beads and linen heaven. I'm all about eclectic and unique pieces, and this store would be the epitome of that. I walked away with *the most extra* two over the shoulder, clutch style beaded purses and have genuinely used them each about three times post the trip. I swear, beads go with everything.
